Saturday, 17th of May, 11am-noon at Aalborg bus terminal

In co-operation with NT, you can get the poster for free at NT's bus stations in week 20 and 21. On Saturday, 17th of May you have the opportunity to get your poster signed by the artist Betina Jung.

Musikkens Tråd
- Grand opening of Aalborg Carnival 2008
Saturday 17th of May, 3pm-5pm at North Jutland's Museum of Art (Kong Christians Allé 50, Aalborg) 

Musikkens Tråd is catwalk, design and Bossa united in a colourful Danish-Brazilian culture collaboration - music and design, Brazilian rhythms and Danish singing complemented by textiles, colours and form.

 Carnival Whisper with Dunkelfolket




Carnival Whisper
Saturday 17th of May, 12pm-2pm in the city centre of Aalborg

On the 17th, you will hear the whisper of Dunkelfolket's mask dancers in the streets of Aalborg -  they will remind you that spring has returned and that the carnival time is here. Listen to their voices, be amazed by the hand-made wooden masks and get ready for the insane carnival time!

Teenager's Carnival
Saturday 17th of May, 1pm-6pm in the amusement park Karolinelund (Tivoli)

Teenager's Carnival is for 13-18 year olds that celebrate their very own carnival in the amusement park Karolinelund (Tivoli) - without any alcohol and without any adults around.  Dress up, have a fairground ride with your friends if you feel like it and be entertained by music, dance, competitions and much more.

Dressed up children and their parents form a parade and march from C. W. Obels Plads to the city park, Kildeparken, where the carnivalists are entertained by music and theatre shows from three different stages. Of course, there are more funny and exciting activities offered -

 Battle of Carnival Bands




Battle of Carnival Bands
Friday 23rd of May, Battle parade: 6pm-7pm in the city centre,  
Battle stage shows and celebration in the city park: 7pm-11pm

Battle of Carnival Bands is an international carnival competition, consisting of a parade and several stage shows, where carnival groups compete for the title "Best Carnival Group of the Year". The top five groups proceed to the great final on Saturday.

Grand Parade




Grand Parade
Saturday, 24th of May from 10.30am

The Grand Parade is opened by various international carnival groups, followed by thousands of dressed up carnivalists who decided to participate in the parade and by music waggons that provide for the appropriate tunes. The parade proceeds to the city park, Kildeparken, where the carnival celebration "Party in Kildeparken" continues until midnight. “You are the entertainer – the street is your stage” is the motto of the parade. So, it is your choice whether you enjoy the parade as spectator or as participant.

Party in Kildeparken
Saturday 24th of May, 12pm-midnight in the city park Kildeparken

The party takes place right after the Grand Parade in Kildeparken where the festivities reach their climax! You are entertained by competitions, dance and music from four different stages. Various theme bars in the park contribute also to a festive atmosphere. At 11.30pm, a firework show in the park puts an end to Aalborg Carnival 2008.

The pageant Carrus Navalis moves through the streets of Aalborg keeping an ancient tradition alive: the celebration of a new beginning - the proclamation of spring and fertility, the return of life and the start of a new carnival season.
